End of March a family tradition: the annual 10 miles race at the Island of Schiermonnikoog. Three days before my sixtieth birthday I managed to keep my average speed below 5:00 / km (or for those calculating the other way around just above the 12km/h). Over the years I have lost almost a minute a year. Not enough training or getting older – probably both.
Below some more statistics on this years race.
Although the Netherlands is flat, the Monninkenloop is more like a trail run, it goes trough the hilly dunes and over the sandy beach as the profile in the blog header shows. Below a snapshot after coming from the beach into the dunes.
